Surely you all know the Naruto series, but for those of you who are not familiar with it, we inform you that it is a Japanese manga and anime series set around Ninjas.

I dont really wanna support a game that goes "JUST DO THE POPULAR CHARACTERS! THOSE WILL SELL" just based on principal. Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution ROM (ISO) is the file in ISO format to be able to run Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution on a PlayStation 3 emulator. I've never really played it but the roster kind of forgetting alot of characters from J-stars versus and ALL the DLC just being 'the big franchises' instead of bringing back more obscure characters like Medaka isnt doing any favors for me. I 100% believe it when people say the ninja storm games are a better way of experiencing the Naruto story without watching the anime (which I havent seen myself) The gameplay did just boil down to "charge ki" then "use big super" most of the time but the production value on the story mode was amazing. I played Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 and found it to be alot of fun and really cool. I wouldnt mind going back to it to give it another look thoguh I never really played other people on it though other than my one friend who also had it. Its been awhile since I've played Dissidia but I remember having alot of fun with it and it being really cool. I really love zoners myself, and I never really clicked with 3D games because 2D-style zoning doesn't work so well in them, so for me arena fighters are even worse in that regard. You can't control space half as effectively when there's too much space to begin with.

Giving you full freedom to run around means you have full freedom to run away. Personally, the problem I have with arena games is that I think there's a such thing as too much movement. Casual players probably like these games specifically for the things the FGC dislikes, and I don't know if you can ever please both. And I think the real risk is that trying to make an arena game for the FGC might fail and now neither the FGC nor arena fans like your game. Developers will have their work cut out for them if they ever want to overcome those expectations. It's gotten to the point where whenever a new arena game gets announced, people just expect it's gonna be more of the same. I don't think it's necessarily that these games necessarily can't be competitive, and I can point to Pokken as the one game that managed to hold a scene decently well.īut there's a pattern of missteps that nearly all of these games have in common: quantity-over-quality rosters that lead to severe balance issues, mash-friendly mechanics, low-risk/high-reward bursts, etc. Stumblebee has a good video on why arena fighters have historically never really been taken seriously. We call those arena games, usually 3D refers to things like Tekken, Soul Calibur, Virtua Fighter, etc.
